Summer Vacation - not so bad for software business after all
There is a general believe that summer period is a bad time for software companies. Well it does - the sales are lower than in any period of the year. However, I do think that summer period should be considered as a period for the business development: while most top management is away in vacation, its easier to target the middle management and work new business models and collaboration. Here is what happens:
- you get 30% people not of work
- you get more answers to business proposals from the remaining 70%
- you have better chances to have a better discussion evolution
- chances to finalize a collaboration with a contract are somehow lower as the middle management is not always entitled to take strategic decisions.
- chances to finalize the contracts after the summer period based on the discussion with middle management are considerable higher
So, in my opinion, summer period is a bad period for software sales, but a good period for software business development
