Part time entrepreneurship: how can you do it?

Posted on November 25, 2005

A colleague from my regular 9 to 5 job asked me today, just before leaving home, how can I do both: having a normal job and manage a start up company with all it takes. All I could say is that instead of spending useless time watching crappy TV shows each evening, I do my job at my company ( I wrote about this in the past, so here it is again). In the beginning, it was quite difficult, but really if you like what you do is more entertaining than watching a movie. Having the first successful deals will help you continue your entrepreneurship mission, and moreover the excitement of trying new things and make some money out of it is enough to keep you going. So how can I do it?

First, I’m really excited of creating something, a real value in my life. Is not just about the money, its just about the products or services you provide.

The first happy customers give you the feeling that you have a meaning in the society. And, it keeps you busy; is never boring. Managing a start up company can’t be boring because you are facing new challenges each day.

And just this challenge to solve things as efficient as possible feeds your brain. Its a brain food.

It’s all about opportunities. Sometimes opportunities are more important that actual results. It does not matter if you failed in a sale project or anything else similar, because tomorrow you will have a better chance. It gives you hope.

And if you enjoy being a little different that the rest, be a part time entrepreneur.
