Nataly Kogan’s 5 dark secrets of Entrepreneurship

Posted on 14 August 2007

I actually feel physical pain reading Nataly Kogan’s 5 dark secrets of Entrepreneurship.
I’ve came across her blog looking something to cure my “crises of confidence” and she says: “But being an entrepreneur involves consistently overcoming crises of confidence. You feel hopeless about making progress, you think your business is doomed, you think you’ve made the worst decisions ever. This is a crisis of confidence and you have to work very hard to overcome it. It’s a horrible feeling.”

Quickly had a look at what she’s doing to find out that she “is the co-founder & CEO of Work It, Mom!, an online community and resource for professional moms.”

I have no clue why she left her job as a venture firm in New York? Maybe she will write about it later. Seems like an interesting start-up.

  1. Guess I’ve been through most of these. It’s just bar for the course. Creating something new implies not knowing precisely what you’re doing. I don’t think there’s any other way to do it. Confidence might actually be a bad sign.

Maybe life should have a sense of adventure. I haven’t had a job since I was 20 years old. The anguish, I feel when I read this post is only in recolection now. I have face situation in the last couple of years that are astronomical compared to the ones face early on.

I think along the way I made up my mind that I was going to perservere and thats when I began to enjoy the emotional stability of detachment.

It definitely takes a lot of work and risk to be an entrepreneur. The road is full of obstacles, including the one you mentioned about lacking confidence. I’ve never heard of these 5 dark secrets but I’d like to learn more about them. Thanks for the info! :)
