Just the other day I’ve been rejected by Blogitive: “Thank you for applying to Blogitive. Unfortunately, your blog does not currently meet our requirements. We need to see a most recent 90 day active posting history of at least 10 new posts per month. If you increase your rate of posting, please feel free to reapply in a few months.“
Not a big deal anyway, especially since their blog is NOT updated since May 2007.
So while I don’t think evaluating a blog on the number of monthly posts it’s really an accurate way to measure the blogging quality, it did however make me think about how did famous bloggers start their famous blogs? Interesting and again interesting! Let’s scavenge their archives.
- ShoeMoney by Jeremy Schoemaker. Jeremy started ShoeMoney on October 11th, 2004 with So I met Paris Hilton. I’m not sure if starting with such an “attractive” subject was made on purpose, or it just happen, but what a great way to start a blog! On the last archive page, a nice article about buying PCs and selling them online and making a $25.000 return on them – these kind of stories have consecrated Jeremy as a top blogger.
- Seth’s blog by Seth Godin. SETH GODIN is a bestselling author, entrepreneur and agent of change as you can find out from his biography page. He is famous for his 7 bestselling books about marketing, and for his … famous blog. He starts on January 15, 2002 (oh God that’s so old it comes from the days I was using Internet as primary source of porn
) with a post about real life – being bored in Nyack, just over the border from New Jersey. Seth is really great on describing situations from the day by day life and transform them into educational content for business owners and not only!
- ProBlogger by Darren Rowse. He says: “Back in 2002 I stumbled upon an article about ‘Blogging’. I didn’t know it at the time but that moment changed my life. I know that statements like that belong on those cheesy ‘buy my book’ sites (don’t worry I’m not selling anything) but it is actually true. Within 24 hours of reading the article I had started my own Blog – a personal blog where I’ve explored issues of Pop Culture, Spirituality and Blogging ever since. “. He started ProBlogger on September 29th, 2004, straight with tips and advices about writing blogs, which he does till today.
There are a lot of other great bloggers and famous blogs to mention (Guy Kawasaki and Dane Carlson are my immediate choices) but…I’m still a Part time Entrepreneur and blogger if you know what I mean.
PS: I don’t have anything against Blogitive, they are probably a great service, it’s just I can’t… check that on my own, because I’m not… accepted in.
