Focus problems for the part time entrepreneur
Posted on November 2, 2005
It doesn’t come as a surprise that after some 6-7 months from the incorporation time, some of the start-up excitement has gone with the wind. It’s only human.
I’m really facing the dilemma of how to keep things on going while I have to invest efforts in my regular 9 to 5 job, my personal life and my family. Its harder and harder to get to work in the evenings; delays happen, both with the customers and with the internal release dates…
Sure I have a business plan; but it could go to trash without the commitment to build something. Reading the old business plan answers some questions regarding the goals of the company, but this is very light in meaning without a real expectation from the owners.
Actually, these issues become real some 2 months ago, and I was looking for some solutions ever since. Without trying to say that I found a real solution to this issue, I believe now, that putting the business plan aside, the company owners should establish some plans of their own, a personal business plan. Something more real and that can be measured.
Now, me new business plan is not about clients, or turnover. My new business plan is about having enough money to buy a new bike for me, and assure sufficient similar funding for my other 2 partners. What do you say about this? I believe is far more easy to follow a business plan with a real result than a commercial plan, and my chances have increased. Everything has a meaning now.
Good luck with your plans!
