East European Web

Posted on March 29, 2005

My Area Sales Manager job sometimes involves extensive research on the East European, Middle East and Asian countries, which I usually conduct on the Internet. While in today’s times, knowledge and information means power, you might not realize that the Internet is not very mature in these parts of the world, until you face a real need to find out infos over the Web about the countries in the region. Finding just the facts you need, usually becomes a tedious task because there is simply not enough virtual information, and the region’s Web is quite unreliable and it doesn’t have a very clear structure. The connections are bad, sites are obsolete or offline and sometimes not translated in English.

Therefore, each available source worth mentioned, even if its not actually located in the region, but tries to make an overview from other parts of the world.

The Eastern Michigan University together with the US Department of Commerce’s Information and Communications Technology Team jointly produced the ICT site. It has all it takes to find out essential information about all parts of the World, including the East European countries.

You can go to a summary of studies about the IT throughout the area, or maybe even better to the companies database listing per countries.

If you’re not looking exactly about these two, well, simply go here and find out the full list of services ICT provides.
