Being an entrepreneur

Posted on 28 September 2005

As I was writing some time ago, entrepreneurship has its advantages and disadvantages.
Let me talk a little on the entrepreneurship “duties” this time.

What does an entrepreneur have to do:

  • Organize and operate the business
  • Make a profit for the organization
  • Search business opportunities
  • Comply with legal and social requirements
  • Assure revenues for paying wages

Now let’s see. While you work for someone else, usually you don’t have to worry about the good standing of the entire business (if you are not a manager). All you have to do, is to do your job, accordingly to the requirements. However, as an entrepreneur, you should take care of the business operation, and handle all issues requiered by the activity performed by your organization.

As the ultimate goal of any “commercial” organization is to make a profit, you have to search for profitable business opportunities, that will give you a nice profit and enough revenues for paying the wages – all this by complying with legal an social required. Even if you hire a manager, few start up entrepreneurs don’t handle these aspects.
